Artists Bio

#Varvara Guljajeva is a mix media artist from Estonia but currently living and working in Linz, Austria. She has master degree in Digital Media from International School of New Media at the University of Lübeck, Germany.
Varvara started her artistic career with video and photography, later got fascinated about electronic art. However, she thinks that medium is not important – an idea is the core. Thus, she does not set any borders to a medium. Her works are the reflection of her thoughts and observations of our society.

#Mar Canet is a computer game engineer and designer. After finishing his BA in digital design, had two years fellowship of ESDI, school of design, and later he went to England to study computer Bsh games development at University Central Lancashire. Currently living in Linz, Austria, working for Ars electronica, and MA student in Interface culture program at Art univesity of linz. He is interested in data visualization, computer games and new media art.
Since 2004, he is involved in art and curatorships projects with his collective Derivart ( that focuses on the finance art, exploring the intersection of finance, art and technology. He has exhibited his pieces in many international festivals and museus like: File 2005(Sao Paulo), Observatori 2007(Valencia), Pure Project gallery NYC (2007),Homo Ludens in La Laboral(2008/Gijon), derivart solo exhibition in Abello Museum (2008/Barcelona), Winter film festival and media of Stuttgart (2009).

#Enrique Tomás
is a sound artist based on Linz, Austria.He has been responsible for interactive sound art works exhibited at SONAR Festival, Ars Electronica, Observatori Festival, Sevilla’s Contemporany Art Biennial, Laboral and multiples galleries and festivals in Europe. Noise activist, educator, hacker… many facets of him are present in his works as a performer playing in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Germany… with the trio Endphase and with his project Ultranoise.

#Linda Thalmann is an installation and mixed media artist currently based in Vienna, Austria. She holds a Master Degree from the University for Art and Industial Design, Linz and is working on her theses for a Master Degree in Art History from the Paris-Lodron University Salzburg. The main concern in her work is the human being, its ways of communication and interaction, of dealing with its surroundings and the possibilities and impossibilities of life. Her preferred medium are ephermal installations, though a strong belief in the importance of the idea and of concepts lead constant experimentation with further media. She has exhibited her works nationally and internationally.

#Ursula Guttmann is a visual artist and curator based in Linz with a focus on works dealing with the body as an interface between identity and society. She studied at the University of Art and Design in Linz and at the Rietveld academy in Amsterdam. She was organizing various projects and performances in Austria and Germany. Her works were exhibited in Great Britain, Japan, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Sweden, France, the Netherlands and the USA. More information about her work and curriculum at

#Helen Schoene is a (performance) artist based in London, UK. She studied dance theatre at Fontys Dansacademie, Tilburg (NL) and obtained an MA in Performance from Goldsmiths College, London. Helen creates work in which fine art practices, the physical body, site specificity and theatrical elements are interwoven. Fiction, especially Victorian thrillers, as well as tales and myths and the imagery derived from them impact heavily on her work. Performances, installations and photographs seek to make these “cues” into a tangible reality.

Helen has created and performed work for Rules&Regs Southampton (UK, 2007), Chisenhale Dance Space (London, 2008), Mannheimer Kunstverein (D, 2006) and regularly works with London based company Switch Performance as associate artist.
